Research Officer
Dr Heloisa Alves
Heloisa is a Research Officer at the Perkins Cancer Biobank, Harry Perkins Institute of Medical Research. She completed a Bachelor of Pharmacy in 2014 and a PhD in Health Sciences in Brazil in 2018, awarded through a competitive PhD scholarship, including a one-year research placement at Curtin University.
Heloisa has expertise in nucleic acid extraction, next-generation sequencing library preparation, laboratory workflow optimisation, and molecular techniques for cancer biomarker research. She also plays a key role in human biobanking, including clinical research sample management, biospecimen processing and tracking, and clinical research sample coordination.
She contributes to collaborative research projects at both the Harry Perkins Institute of Medical Research and Curtin University, where she holds an appointment as a University Associate. Her current research focuses on DNA methylation biomarkers for liquid biopsy development and cancer detection.
