Two chapters of the Red Hat Society visited the Lotterywest BioDiscovery Centre for Live in the Lab sessions in May.
Under the guidance of Perkins Community Education Manager, Pauline Charman, the ladies donned their lab coats and gloves to explore the process of extracting DNA, using research-grade equipment.
Live in the Lab sessions allow groups to discover how scientists perform experiments and tests that lead to new discoveries and medicines, followed by a meeting with one of the Perkins’ researchers for an introduction to some of the complexities of modern medicine.
