Dr Theodore Wai Ng is an industry professional with a diverse background encompassing biomedical research, consulting, and biotech investment/commercialisation. Following his PhD in lipoprotein biochemistry and systems physiology with further postdoctoral training in the omics field towards cardiovascular and metabolic diseases, Dr Ng made a strategic shift towards consulting for biotech investment firms abroad. He currently lends his expertise to boutique investment firms across the Asia-Pacific region, providing insights into the assessment of innovative therapies and emerging technologies. His deep understanding of both the scientific and business aspects enable him to guide investment decisions effectively and to better navigate the dynamic biotech landscape.

Having walked the traditional PhD turned postdoctoral pathway with previous success in securing several highly competitive research fellowships and grants, Dr Ng has the requisite experience, empathy, and appreciation for the challenges and difficulties faced by today’s new generation of early- to mid-career researchers. He has a strong commitment to the development of initiatives within the Perkins that seeks to better support early- to mid-career researchers so as to achieve a critical mass of talent that will go on to become the next generation of leaders.

Driven by a vision to see Perth become a leading biotech hub across the Asia-Pacific region, Dr Ng continues to serve in the research development space in support of the Harry Perkins Institute of Medical Research. He consistently engages with stakeholders, investors, and key players in the biotech and research sector to further promote the growth and development of the Institute and its brand awareness.
