Tanveer Ahmed Seeam is a PhD candidate in the School of Medical and Health Sciences at Edith Cowan University (ECU), working with the Melanoma Discovery team at the Harry Perkins Institute of Medical Research. Originally from Dhaka, Bangladesh, he completed a BSc in Microbiology and an MSc in Biotechnology at BRAC University. Before commencing his PhD, he worked as a Research Assistant at BRAC University and as a Research Student at the National Institute of Biotechnology, gaining experience across molecular biology workflows and bioinformatics for microbial and biomedical research. He has also gained laboratory experience in human identification and DNA profiling through an internship at Forensic DNA Laboratory of Bangladesh Police, CID.

His PhD research focuses on uveal melanoma, with an emphasis on why BAP1-deficient disease shows aggressive biology and liver-dominant metastasis. Using hepatic microenvironment models (including stellate cell–conditioned media and co-culture systems), he is investigating tumour–liver signalling, extracellular matrix–associated responses, and how these factors influence sensitivity to targeted therapies such as the dual HDAC/PI3K inhibitor Fimepinostat.

His technical strengths include mammalian cell culture, conditioned media and co-culture assays, Western blotting and computational analysis. He is motivated by translational research that connects mechanistic biology to more effective therapeutic strategies for patients with metastatic uveal melanoma.
