Professor Tim Colmer

Professor Colmer is Acting Senior Deputy Vice-Chancellor at The University of Western Australia with leadership of the College of Schools which cover the academic disciplines of Science; Health and Medical Sciences; Engineering and Mathematical Sciences; Arts, Business, Law and Education. He also oversees the University’s College Services and the Integrity and Standards Unit in this role.

Professor Colmer’s previous role was Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research) with responsibility for research leadership, including strategy and policy development.

Professor Colmer is a plant physiologist and enjoys working across various academic disciplines to support research at UWA, including research infrastructure initiatives. His work as a Teaching and Research academic has been in the School of Agriculture and Environment. His contributions to coursework teaching were recognised by two national awards. He has supervised 35 PhD students to completion. His research was on abiotic stress tolerance in grain crops, forages, turfgrass and halophytes. He has a strong service record; previous roles include degree coordinator, postgraduate coordinator, journal editor, past President of Australian Society of Plant Scientists, Associate Dean for Teaching & Learning, Head of School, Acting Pro Vice-Chancellor (Research), and member of Research Infrastructure Boards (PHRN, MA, IMOS, Raine Study).
