Associate Professor Debbie Trinder is a National Health and Medical Research Council of Australia Senior Research Fellow and Laboratory Head of Iron Metabolism and Liver Disease Research at the Harry Perkins Institute of Medical Research. She received her PhD from UWA in 1989, undertook postdoctoral training at University of Melbourne (1989-1991) and Albert Einstein College of Medicine, New York, USA (1992-1994) before returning to UWA in 1995.

Professor Trinder has published over 80 research articles including 20 invited reviews and 5 invited book chapters on iron metabolism. She has contributed to more than 150 presentations at scientific meetings and is invited regularly to speak at international and national meetings on iron metabolism. She has received numerous research awards and grants and has supervised more than 30 research students and staff over her career.
