- Salary packaging ($18,550) and generous leave benefits
At the Harry Perkins Institute of Medical Research, we exist to help people live healthier, longer lives. Our researchers are at the forefront of medical discovery – but it’s the passion, innovation, and dedication of our award-winning fundraising team that ensures this life-changing work continues.
We’re seeking a visionary Senior Manager, Fundraising to lead, innovate, and grow our fundraising programs. This is a unique opportunity to join a respected WA medical research institute, make your mark, and shape the future of health outcomes globally. This position is offered on a full time permanent basis, located at our state-of the-art medical research facilities in Nedlands.
About this role
As our Senior Manager, Fundraising, you’ll report directly to the Chief Engagement Officer and lead a talented team spanning Individual Giving, Community Fundraising, and Planned Giving. This is a rare opportunity to join an industry-recognised, high achieving and supportive fundraising team.
This is a strategic leadership role where your creative thinking, data-savviness and passion for impact will drive diverse revenue streams and foster deep donor engagement. You won’t just monitor external agencies—you’ll be the brains behind strategy and execution.
You’ll be responsible for:
- Designing and delivering integrated, insight-driven fundraising strategies across key portfolios.
- Leading and mentoring a high-performing team with a focus on innovation, autonomy and development.
- Using data (Salesforce CRM and analytics tools) to inform decisions, measure ROI and guide storytelling.
- Collaborating across teams and negotiating resources to bring your campaigns to life.
- Contributing to a vibrant and collaborative team culture that thrives on creativity and purpose.
What you’ll bring
We’re looking for a seasoned fundraising leader who can inspire, create and deliver. Someone with:
- Senior-managerial fundraising experience in the not-for-profit sector (medical research experience not essential).
- Demonstrable experience in developing and implementing successful fundraising strategies across various channels to significantly increase fundraising income.
- Proven success in growing donor bases and crafting compelling strategies for individual giving, gifts in wills and community fundraising.
- Strong analytical skills and confidence interpreting fundraising data to inform decisions.
- Experience leading teams, managing budgets and communicating with executive leadership and Boards.
- A flair for storytelling and donor engagement, with empathy and adaptability at your core.
- The ability to identify and seize new fundraising opportunities and innovate existing practices to adapt to changing fundraising landscapes.
- Familiarity with CRMs (we use Salesforce but this isn’t essential) and digital fundraising platforms (e.g. Raisely, Fundraisin) is a plus.
If you really want to stand out, tell us about your:
- Creativity and innovation in campaign design—we want someone who’s led from the front, not just signed off on agency work.
- Ability to translate complex science or concepts into compelling donor narratives.
- Collaborative, curious and resilient personality—someone who can juggle projects, motivate the team and power through challenges.
If this sounds like the right fit, we can offer you:
- Flexible working options—a hybrid working model and adaptable start/finish times
- A supportive and passionate team
- The opportunity to make a positive impact in a community-focused organisation with global reach
- The ability to salary package up to $18,550 annually, meaning you can legitimately pay less tax and increase your tax-home pay
- Generous leave benefits, including:
- 3 days paid extra leave at the end of the year
- Up to 16 weeks paid parental leave
- 2 days of paid cultural and community engagement leave
Are you ready to make a difference?
To apply, please submit your resume along with a cover letter addressing the below two questions:
- Tell us about a time you personally developed and implemented a creative fundraising campaign or strategy—what was your role and what made it innovative?
