Concierge (Perkins South)

The Perkins is seeking a professional, personable, and proactive Concierge to join our team. In this key front-of-house role, you will be the first point of contact for visitors, staff, and stakeholders — providing a warm welcome and exceptional service that reflects the values of the Harry Perkins Institute of Medical Research. This position is offered on a full-time permanent basis, located at our state-of the-art medical research facilities at Perkins South in Murdoch.

About this role

Reporting to the Facilities Manager, the Concierge serves as the primary point of contact for all individuals entering the Perkins buildings, including staff, tenants, visitors, contractors, and guests. The Concierge supports building security and access, manages front desk communications, completes tasks to support a safe working environment, and handles administrative tasks.

The key responsibilities of this role include:

  • Provide a professional and welcoming front-of-house experience, greeting all visitors, managing building access, and supporting initial security procedures, including guest notifications.
  • Deliver routine building inductions for new occupants and ensure ongoing compliance for all current occupants.
  • Act as the central point of contact for all front desk communications, managing enquiries across multiple channels and ensuring timely, effective resolution of requests.
  • Maintain safety and emergency readiness, serving as Chief Fire Warden, conducting daily safety checks, and ensuring awareness and accessibility of all emergency equipment.
  • Support security and compliance operations, including monitoring building access, managing security pass approvals, and preparing reports as required.
  • Accurately complete administrative and operational documentation, such as daily activity reports, incident logs, and audits.
  • Ensure the professional presentation and functionality of shared spaces, including concierge areas, meeting rooms, and AV infrastructure, reporting any faults or issues.
  • Assist with deliveries and venue operations, including receiving and handling goods, performing facility checks, and supporting the Venue Coordinator and broader team as needed.

It’s ideal for someone who thrives in a front-facing role, enjoys problem-solving, and can confidently manage multiple tasks while maintaining attention to detail.

To be successful in this role, you’ll have:

  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communications skills with the ability to interact professionally and effectively with diverse customers, including academics, professional staff, students, visitors, and tradespeople.
  • Excellent customer service skills with a positive and professional presentation.
  • Well-developed organisational and planning abilities and the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Demonstrated ability to work both collaboratively in a team environment and independently when required.
  • Flexible approach to duties along with the ability to work under pressure.
  • High level of attention to detail.
  • Proficient in a range of computing skills including Microsoft Office.
  • Working knowledge of Work Health and Safety procedures and a willingness to learn.
  • Previous experience in a Concierge, Front Desk, or a customer facing administration role (desirable).
  • Capability to obtain a First Aid Certificate and Satisfactory National Police Certificate.

Special Requirements

  • This position may be required to work after-hours, including afternoon and weekend shifts, which would be rostered in advance.
  • The position acts as a Chief Fire Warden and a First Aid Officer
  • This role may be required to provide relief support across the Facilities team and undertake site-based duties at both our Nedlands and Murdoch locations.
  • The position requires a good level of physical fitness, as it involves regular standing, lifting, moving, and handling of items using safe manual handling practices and equipment.
