“Molecular Regulation of Immune Development and Childhood Disease: Towards Precision Preventative Health”
Associate Professor David Martino, PhD is a biomedical research scientist with expertise in molecular biology, human immunology and bioinformatics.
He currently leads the Clinical Epigenetics team at the Kids Research Institute, and pioneers research into the molecular mechanisms that shape a child’s immune defenses, focusing on the role of epigenetic factors.
His program of research aims to identify genomic factors that predispose to infections, allergy and chronic respiratory disease, ultimately seeking to improve resilience to chronic diseases.
David completed his PhD at the University of Western Australia in transcriptomics of food allergy with Professor Susan Prescott and Professor Patrick Holt, and undertook postdoctoral studies in epigenetics of food allergies with Professor Richard Saffery and Professor Katie Allen.
He established the Clinical Epigenetics team at the Kids Research Institute in 2018.
A light lunch will be served in the foyer following the presentation.
