Saurabh is a post-doctoral fellow in the Sharma Lab situated at Harry Perkins Institute of Medical Research in collaboration with Curtin University. He has a background in genomics, single-cell and bulk transcriptomics, and algorithm development. His research focuses on utilizing and developing methods to analyse and integrate single-cell genomics and spatial transcriptomics using machine learning approaches. In the Sharma Lab, he will employ his omics skills to understand tumor heterogeneity and evolution.

After completing his bachelor’s in Biotechnology, he started his journey in genomics at IBAB, Bangalore, India, where he received training in Bioinformatics and Computational Biology. He received the Chief Minister’s Scholarship for Best Student for his exceptional performance. He then joined the Bio-IT Center in IBAB as a Bioinformatics Associate, where he extended his expertise in various aspects related to cancer genomics. In 2015, he received the prestigious Marie Skłodowska-Curie fellowship for his doctoral studies at the University of Potsdam. After completing his Ph.D., he joined the Max-Planck Institute of Molecular Plant Physiology as a post-doctoral fellow in a European Research Council Synergy Grant. He worked on developing computational workflows for analysing single-cell transcriptomics data to understand long-distance RNA signaling at single-cell resolution.
