On Sunday 27 March 2022, Prime Minister Scott Morrison announced from the Harry Perkins Institute of Medical Research that the Federal Government will commit $375 million to support a new $750 million, truly comprehensive WA Cancer Centre.
The new centre, being developed by the Perkins will include world-first cancer prevention and treatment, WA-based global cancer research facilities, world-leading clinical trials, holistic supportive treatment therapies, an integrated and dedicated intensive care unit as well as new hospital beds solely for cancer patients all in one location.
