The Harry Perkins Institute of Medical Research was built to enhance the quality of medical research in Western Australia by bringing together laboratory-based and clinical researchers with cutting-edge equipment and technology to establish Western Australia as one of Australia’s premier medical research hubs.
The Perkins buildings provide us with a foundation on which to expand and develop large multidisciplinary teams well integrated into the hospital and medical health care sectors. They also provide a stimulating environment for science and medical students where they are exposed to a flood of new technology, new ideas and a culture of collaboration.
The building acts as a beacon to attract leading researchers, providing a unique opportunity for collaborative, multi-disciplinary investigation into the major diseases that impact our community.
The buildings were developed thanks to support from the WA community and we want to share the facilities with you – the people who made it possible! The foyer exhibition space is accessible to the public 8am – 5pm Monday to Friday. Regular tours are held to give supporters an opportunity to visit the building and get a firsthand look at the cutting-edge research being conducted in Perth. Spaces are available to hire for events at corporate or charity rates – these include a 250 seat auditorium, 3 seminar rooms, a community resource room, the Lotterywest BioDiscovery Centre and a foyer which can support up to 150 guests for a cocktail function.
