Are you looking for a career in medical research?
As one of Western Australia’s leading medical research institutes, the Harry Perkins Institute is dedicated to improving lives through research. Perkins scientists investigate some of the world’s most significant health challenges, including cancer, cardiovascular disease, diabetes, obesity, ageing, and nerve and muscle disorders.
At this event, you and other students will have the opportunity to meet researchers, learn about current projects and explore pathways into a research career.
Students from any university are welcome. We encourage attendance from students studying a range of disciplines, including (but not limited to):
- Bachelor of Science (Honours)
- Bachelor of Medical Science
- Other relevant Honours degrees
- Master’s by Research
- PhD
You’ll also hear about the 2026/27 Perkins Vacation Scholarship (PVS) program at this event, which is a great chance for you to gain valuable research experience over the summer break. This competitive scholarship provides $2,500 for students to undertake a six-week research project within one of our laboratories. Many previous scholarship recipients have continued their research journey at Perkins through Honours, Master’s by Research, or PhD studies. It is an excellent opportunity for you to gain hands-on research experience and strengthen your future career prospects.
Enjoy free nibbles and drinks while you connect with our researchers and hear how you could contribute to the next scientific breakthrough.
