Research Development Officer

The Perkins is seeking a motivated and strategic Research Development Officer to drive competitive research funding opportunities and embed meaningful Consumer and Community Involvement (CCI) into research design and governance. This permanent role is offered on a 0.8–1.0 FTE basis and is located at our state-of-the-art medical research facilities at Perkins North in Nedlands.

About this role

Reporting to the Research Development Manager, this role supports researchers to secure competitive funding, enhance consumer engagement and improve research performance reporting, while ensuring compliance with key funder requirements including NHMRC and MRFF.

The key responsibilities of this role include:

  • Identifying and supporting research funding opportunities
  • Providing hands-on grant application support, including drafting and editing proposals
  • Acting as a central contact for Consumer and Community Involvement (CCI) strategy
  • Supporting recruitment, onboarding and engagement of consumer representatives
  • Contributing to the development and maintenance of a consumer and community engagement framework in line with NHMRC/MRFF requirements
  • Developing and maintaining research development workflows, tools and resources
  • Tracking and analysing research performance data to inform strategy and reporting
  • Producing dashboards and reports for leadership and strategic planning
  • Liaising with funding bodies, universities, industry partners and CCI organisations.

To be successful in this role, you’ll have:

  • Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline or equivalent experience
  • Experience or understanding of consumer and community engagement principles
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities
  • Excellent written communication skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to engage across diverse stakeholder groups
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
