Scientist – New Technologies (Genomics WA)

About the Role

This role will play a key part in implementing new workflows for spatial transcriptomics and sequencing platforms, supporting lab operations, and ensuring accreditation standards are met.

The key responsibilities of this role include:

  • Developing and implementing protocols for tissue preparation and imaging
  • Leading the setup and optimisation of new sequencing workflows
  • Supporting accreditation processes and maintaining compliant documentation
  • Training staff on new methods and ensuring best practices
  • Collaborating with clients to deliver tailored spatial transcriptomics services
  • Contributing to lab operations and future service planning

This role would suit someone with strong technical laboratory skills, a collaborative mindset and a drive to be at the forefront of genomic technology.

To be successful in this role, you’ll have:

  • A tertiary qualification (Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD) in a relevant scientific field
  • Experience in histology techniques, including tissue preparation and staining and imaging
  • Strong understanding of spatial transcriptomics and next-generation sequencing
  • Demonstrated ability to write and follow SOPs
  • Excellent attention to detail and record-keeping skills
  • Strong communication and teamwork capabilities
